The only way to get to Playa Escondida in Mexico is by booking a full-day tour.
Only tour companies are authorized to run this tour. If you like to go on your own, be prepared to enjoy this experience with lots of people.
The trip to the Islas Marietas takes approximately 2 hours and the boats make several stops during the trip, one of them at Playa Escondida.
The tour also includes activities such as snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking. Most tours also offer food and an open bar (usually served during the return trip).
No boats of any kind are allowed to enter the small bay of Hidden Beach. Small boats get as close as possible and then everyone must swim through a tunnel to reach the beautiful beach.
Not all travelers are willing to take this route and are not obliged to do so.
On the other hand, it is not dangerous and the effort is well worth it. Even though it is a little difficult to get there, it is even harder to want to leave!
