Isla Mujeres: 4 perfect spots for your photos
Isla Mujeres is a contrast of intense colors, from its little shops, through beautiful cliffs to its beautiful white sand beach.
Combined with a vibrant environment, Isla Mujeres provides a wonderful backdrop for a perfect photo shoot that you’ll treasure forever. With that in mind, I’ve selected a few places where even amateur photos will look professional.
1 – Garrafón Isla Mujeres Park
O Garrafón Park It is one of the places that offers the best views and the most incredible scenery. You can also enjoy snorkeling (the sea there is perfect for this), go zip-lining or explore the region by kayak.
If you just want to relax, the place offers hammocks and a beautiful pool by the sea. With the ticket you also have access to the buffet, open bar, lockers, towels and shower.
The colors of the sea combined with the cliffs and unforgettable activities make Garrafón one of the perfect places to take beautiful photos.

Garrafón Park Viewpoint
One of the best spots to take a beautiful photo is at the park's famous viewpoint, which is located on the side of the road and you don't have to pay anything to take that beautiful photo. You can find this place very close to the southern tip of the island and it's very easy to get there if you rent a golf cart (an activity I recommend). There are also vendors selling ice cream and coconut water.
2 – Punta Sur Isla Mujeres
Just beyond Garrafón Park is Punta Sur, which is the easternmost point in Mexico, making it a favorite spot for people who want to be the first in Mexico to see the sunrise on New Year's Eve.
The entrance fee is very cheap, less than 5 reais and there you can see the Mayan temple to the Goddess Ixchel, the Sculpture Gardens and the most beautiful cliffs of Isla Mujeres, another ideal place to take that cool photo!

3 – Playa Norte de Isla Mujeres
Playa Norte is ranked among the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world every year, and for good reason!
Located on the northeast side of the island, Playa Norte offers a long stretch of white sand and crystal clear, calm waters, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the day. And of course, for taking lots of photos!
Because of the calm waters, you can take your camera into the sea and take beautiful photos from different perspectives. A good idea is to capture the long row of palm trees that contrast with the white sand and turquoise blue of the sea. Can you imagine yourself there?
Another advantage is that Playa Norte is one of the few places in southern Mexico where you can capture the sunset over the ocean. You won’t need filters, as nature will take care of providing a spectacular display of orange and pink colors.

4 – Hidalgo Avenue at night
For lovers of night photography, Hidalgo Avenue is the perfect place.
This is the favorite place for tourists to dine at one of the region's many restaurants, stroll around and have a drink at one of the bars.
If you have time, it's even worth staying for a night to enjoy the nightlife of an authentic Caribbean island.
Tips for enjoying Isla Mujeres
- Rent a golf cart to explore the island. In addition to being fun, you can buy your drinks at a convenience store (Oxxo) to accompany you on this adventure. You can rent it by the hour or for the whole day.
- How to get to Isla Mujeres: If you want to pay less to get to Isla Mujeres, take the ferry from Puerto Juárez and not from the hotel zone in Cancun.
- If you want to eat some of the best fish you’ve ever tasted, you have to try Tikinxik, which has a complicated name but is delicious. You can find this Mayan culinary heritage on Playa Lancheros in a restaurant that was founded in 1940. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
- If you travel during a full moon, look out to sea, you will be able to see the moon emerge over the horizon and it is spectacular; especially in summer and autumn.
