Although Playa del Carmen is known for its vibrant nightlife, boutique hotels on Fifth Avenue and large beach resorts, I wanted to showcase something different in this area, a hotel that stood out from the crowd.
And after searching a lot, I found Petit Lafitte Playa del Carmen, the perfect example for those who want to relax and enjoy a different experience.
Petit Lafitte has cabins right on the sand, very similar to Tulum (or at least what Tulum was in previous years) and offers a very different vibe compared to other hotels in Playa del Carmen.
Formerly known as Capitan Lafitte, this hotel has been around since the 70s and is a pioneer in the area. Petit Lafitte Playa del Carmen is small compared to other resorts in the area, but that’s part of its charm.
The hotel stands out for being quiet and cozy, with many loyal guests who loyally stay there year after year, justifying the atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle and the excellent service from the staff (incredible, by the way).
The hotel's cabins and rooms are nestled among tropical gardens and towering palm trees with winding pathways leading to soft white sand and the blue Caribbean Sea.
The beachfront huts are surrounded by several hammocks and are the ideal place to enjoy a drink as the sun sets.
The private beach area has a peaceful atmosphere and is rarely overcrowded, giving you all the privacy and tranquility you deserve (in fact, privacy is one of the main features of this hotel).
The bar offers excellent cocktails and has a beautiful wooden deck where you can, in addition to having lunch with a beautiful view of the sea, enjoy a beautiful sunset.
You can feel the hotel’s vibe in its decor, with beautiful wooden furniture and lots of greenery everywhere. You can even see monkeys roaming around the property.

I had the opportunity to stay in this room and it was truly an incredible experience. The cabins have rustic décor with carved wood, stained glass lampshades, bamboo-framed mirrors and an additional loft with a double bed.
It is worth remembering that the cabins do not have a TV.
It also has a large bathroom, air conditioning, a safe and a furnished balcony where you can enjoy the late afternoon in the Riviera Maya. Highly recommended!
Partial Ocean View
In this category you have the same amenities and decor, but the cabins are further away from the sea and you can have a partial view.
On the other hand, the environment is super pleasant, as you are surrounded by beautiful palm trees and beautiful gardens.
Standard Room
Standard rooms are located in the main building of the hotel and can have a garden view or a sea view (charging the same price as the Ocean View also with a beautiful view).
The only difference is that rooms in the main building offer flat-screen TVs and cable.

Situated south of Cancun, the hotel is on the highway at the end of a small, bumpy road, surrounded by jungle, lit by tiki torches at night.
It doesn’t look like much from the drive, but once inside, the tropical gardens open up to a beautiful beach, with white sands and a sparkling blue ocean. The ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum are about an hour’s drive away, and Cancun International Airport is a 40-minute drive away.
