Trip to Cancun: which a best time?

January/February
At the beginning of January there are still many people who arrived in December to enjoy their holidays and from the second week of the month the number of tourists drops considerably, however you may encounter some cloudy days.
In February, there is a great opportunity to plan a trip to Cancun at a reasonable price, as hotels have offers and promotions. The weather is perfect and it is not unbearably hot. This is one of the good travel tips for Cancun.
March April
If you are looking for excessive partying and a young atmosphere, March is ideal, because the Spring Breakers (young American tourists) invade the beaches and Cancun hotels, opening the first high season of the year. Depending on your tastes, this could be the best time to go to Cancun.
April is the “Holy Week” which attracts families from all over the country who want to enjoy the sea. This season is very popular in Cancun, so if you plan to travel during this time, I recommend that you book a month in advance and be patient with the crowds. The good thing is that here you will never find crowded beaches like during Brazilian holidays.
May/June
May marks the beginning of a new season with hotel deals in Cancun, making it a great time to visit this beautiful Mexican destination. However, between May and June, there is a chance of cloudy and rainy days.
Of course, this is no reason to stop visiting Cancun and taking advantage of the prices. Here, the recommendation is to check the weather forecast before booking your flight and hotel, this way you avoid falling into one of the scams I have fallen into!
July/August
This is one of the busiest seasons of the entire year in Cancun and in general in the entire Riviera Maya. If you want to visit Cancun in July, it is best to make your reservation one or two months in advance, this way you avoid exorbitant rates or being told that everything is full.
A good alternative to find accommodation at interesting prices is to try to book with Airbnb in Cancun, I have already booked and it was very worthwhile.
September/October
This is the cheapest season to travel and see the sights of Cancun, the hotel rate is the lowest of the year, the number of tourists is moderate and there are also attractive offers for flights to Cancun in October.
However, this is the season when there is a greater chance of hurricanes, so generally nothing happens other than you encounter a few cloudy days or it suddenly starts to rain on the beach. If that doesn't matter to you, this is a great opportunity to travel to Cancun while spending little money.
For example, I have never seen a hurricane in Cancun during my time here, only heavy rain and strong winds. But remember, nature is unpredictable and anything can happen at this time of year. On the other hand, there is nothing stopping you from visiting the wonderful beaches in Cancun.
November/December
Traveling to Cancun is a luxury during this season. climate in the region It's perfect, and that attracts tourists from all over the world; the parks and archaeological sites are at maximum capacity.
Book at least 3 months in advance if you plan to visit Cancun at this time of year, but be prepared to find the highest rates of the year in the Riviera Maya. November is a little cheaper, but not by much.

How many hours does it take to fly from Brazil to Cancun?

Previously, the travel time from Brazil to Cancun could take up to 14 hours by flight. With the new system, you can travel to Cancun in up to 12 hours.
One of the most popular flights for its quick connection is the Guarulhos – Panama – Cancun flight. This flight is operated by Copa Airlines and has a connection of just 1 hour in Panama City before going on to Cancun. This trip lasts approximately 11 hours, including the connection.
You can also fly from Guarulhos with a connection at Mexico City operated by Aeroméxico. Another option is to use Latam with a connection in Lima, Peru. Obviously, these are longer flights due to the waiting time for the connection, which can sometimes be more than 7 hours.
Tips foolproof ways to buy airline tickets to the city of Cancun

Well, now that you know the time that best fits your planning and how much you would spend per day depending on your style, it's time to look for the best flight ticket to Cancun.
As the Mexico Guide was created to help all travelers who want to visit Mexico in the best possible way, I have separated this infallible method to get the best rates to fly to Cancun, just follow these 5 steps.
1 – Book 12 or more weeks in advance
This allows you to find space in economy class and not have to pay more for preferred seats, and it has been proven that this way you guarantee more attractive prices. If you are visiting Cancun from Europe, consider 18 weeks in advance, which seems to be the rule for long flights.
2 – Travel on weekdays and at night
You can find the best prices on flights to Cancun on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Also check for night flights, they are usually less crowded and cheaper, if you book a night flight and arrive at dawn it is a good idea to let your hotel know.
3 – Compare prices on search engines
Comparing prices between different airlines is very easy with “search engines”, there are many, but not all of them are effective, I recommend using skyscanner, because it is currently the most efficient of all search engines and allows you to quickly identify the best offer on the day you choose your flight to Cancun.
4 – Check the airline’s website before purchasing
Once you have identified your flight ticket to Cancun, it is ideal to compare the price you found within the search engine with that which the airline itself has published on its website, so that you can find an advantage by buying directly from the airline. It is worth checking.
5 – Start accumulating miles, it’s free!
Sign up for the frequent flyer program of the airline that operates the flight you are going to purchase. It is probably free and the miles you accumulate with this flight can mean a good discount at another time. It is better to accumulate miles than not to accumulate them, I can't think of any reason not to sign up for these rewards programs.
Extra tip from the Mexico Guide
If you want to learn how to visit Mexico or anywhere in the world paying much less, sign up for the course Passage Formula. With this course, you will learn how I and other professional travelers get the best rates.

Use incognito mode in your browser when searching for flights and avoid being confused by advertising.

Do I need a visa to go to Cancun?

Yes, Brazilians need to present a visa to enter Mexico. Mexico has now require visa since August 2022, so before buying your ticket or booking hotels and tours, schedule your interview at the consulates.
Do you need a passport to go to Cancun?

Yes. For any international trip other than to Mercosur countries, you need a passport. Mexico requires a passport with at least 6 months validity before traveling. So, if you are planning a trip to Mexico, run to the Federal Police to get or renew your passport.
Accurate wallet yellow fever vaccination for my trip to Cancun?

Brazilian travelers do not need a yellow fever vaccination card to enter Mexico. On the other hand, if you are going to make a connection in Colombia, it is recommended to bring one to avoid problems that could ruin your vacation.
I myself have been through a lot of trouble in Colombia and I recommend that you have your vaccination card with you.
How to save money on a trip to Cancun

If you want to save money on your trip to Cancun, I have some tips here that will help you a lot.
First, to get from the airport to your hotel, you can take the ADO bus from the airport to the city center (this will cost you approximately 17 reais).
Then you can negotiate a taxi from the bus station to the airport (which can cost up to 100 reais depending on the location of your hotel. If it is in the Hotel Zone, it will be more expensive.
Therefore, the second tip is to stay in the city center where hotels are cheaper. Ibis Cancun Centro It is very well located and has very affordable prices. The hotel is also very comfortable.
You can also stay at a cheaper hotel in Playa del Carmen with breakfast only (it’s much better to stay there, as it’s closer to all the attractions) and then end your trip at an All Inclusive resort in Cancun. Check out the post “Cancun or Playa del Carmen” that you will know more.
Another great tip is to bring dollars from Brazil and exchange them in Cancun. Under no circumstances should you buy pesos in Brazil, as you will lose money.
One last but not least tip is to use public transport.
Lines R1, R2, R15 and R27 (the last one passes in front of the Ibis hotel) travel through the Hotel Zone, lines R2 and R15 go to Walmart and Mercado 28 in downtown Cancun.
The R1 line takes you to Puerto Juárez, from where ferries depart to Isla Mujeres.
The bus that passes in front of the Ibis usually takes a while. If you don't want to wait too long, ask a taxi driver to take you to the entrance of the hotel zone where the buses pass. He will charge you about 17 reais and you will be at the right stop where the buses pass most frequently.
Bonus tip: Don't tell anyone, but there are some UBERs running around the city. Open your app, and with luck, you'll be able to travel much cheaper.
Where buy Mexican peso in Cancun?

Cams Dollars or Mexican pesos? When planning a trip to Cancun, many people are unsure about where the best place to exchange money is. The best option is to bring dollars from Brazil and look for one of the exchange offices in the city center to buy Mexican pesos.
The exchange rates at the airport and Hotel Zone exchange offices are terrible and it is worth taking a walk around the center, as you will not only get to know the area, but also get a much better exchange rate.
Don't get ripped off. That's why it's a good idea to bring at least 500 Mexican pesos from Brazil to have something until you can exchange it.
You can also check the rate on your credit card, as it is sometimes better than what local currency exchanges offer. Just check how much the IOF will cost you so you don't end up spending more.
What documents are needed to travel to Cancun?

- Passport and mexican visa – For a trip to Cancun you need to have a passport with a minimum validity of 6 months on the date of departure.
- Driver’s License – If you intend to rent a car.
- Authorization for unaccompanied minors
- Credit or debit card unlocked
- Hotel Voucher

OK a Is it worth renting a car in Cancun?

Of course, it all depends on your plans. If you want to visit Chichén Itzá, then you could just rent a car in Cancun for a single day without any inconvenience.
Now, if you want to explore the Riviera Maya, it is worth renting a car for a few days. The tip is to respect the speed limits, as traffic cops are used to taking advantage of tourists.
On the other hand, if you are going to enjoy Cancun and the attractions offered in the city, you can just use public transport, which is quite decent.

How to go do Cancun airport to my hotel?

After completing the customs process and collecting your luggage at the Cancun airport, you will arrive at a “lounge” where you will find different options with agents offering you taxis, tours, among others. Avoid it!!!!! This is the first scam that many people fall into when they arrive in Cancun.
People will try everything to get you, just ignore “No, gracias” and follow the advice I will give you below.
Shared transfer in Cancun

An economical and safe option is to book a shared or private transfer with a Portuguese-speaking host, as it will be very cheap and will leave you safely at the door of your hotel. The same tip applies on the way back, as it will be one less thing to worry about.
Avoid conventional taxis

As I said at the beginning, forget about this option, as this service charges at least 4 times more than the normal price to take you to downtown Cancun or the Hotel Zone. Run away, traveler!
ADO Bus

The cheapest option to get around Cancun International Airport to your hotel or apartment is to use the ADO bus. The ADO is a bus company that operates throughout the country and is quite reliable and safe.
The difference with the transfer is that the bus will not drop you off at the door of your hotel, it will drop you off at the ADO station in downtown Cancun, at the ADO station in Playa del Carmen (located on Fifth Avenue) or in Tulum, depending on the route chosen.
You should keep in mind that it is a slower option, as you will have to wait for the bus to fill up and, once at the station, you will have to take a taxi or Uber to go to your hotel.
I recommend this option if your hotel is in the center of Cancun, otherwise it can be quite expensive as taxis charge more to go to the Hotel Zone.
To give you an idea and plan ahead, here are some approximate prices:
Airport – Cancun Centro – 17 BRL
Airport – Playa del Carmen – 35 BRL
Airport – Tulum – 50 BRL approx

5 – Secret River

This tour is simply amazing. Entering a cave that is millions of years old may seem scary, but with the help of specialized guides it becomes an unforgettable experience.
You will arrive at beautiful halls full of stalagmites and stalactites that form beautiful arches, you will also be able to see small animals that only live in the darkness and reach places where the sun has never touched.
Inside the cave you will see fossilized corals (all of this was part of the ocean before the Big Bang) and you will be able to walk and swim for about 600 meters inside the cave.
As it was considered a sacred place by the Mayans, before entering you will undergo a Mayan purification ritual, performed by a real Shaman. An unforgettable experience.
Rio Secreto could certainly be one of the wonders of the world. It is an underground river with crystal clear waters, 600 meters long, thousands of stalactites and stalagmites in a 100% natural environment.
It's like going back in time and witnessing something mysterious and truly spectacular.
