Moon Palace Cancun Layout and Location
Right away you can tell that the resort is fabulous, but not for beach lovers. Keep reading and you’ll see for yourself! The hotel is huge and you’ll need the map they provide at check-in. Familiarize yourself with the layout if you want to take advantage of all the amenities on offer.
Moon Palace Cancun has 3 lobbies, Sunrise, Nizuc and the latest and most luxurious, Grand Moon Palace Cancun. When you stay at Sunrise and Nizuc all services are interchangeable.
This means you have access to all restaurants, bars and amenities at both resorts. For Grand guests, you have access to all amenities at the Grand, plus the amenities at the other two resorts.
Just 10 minutes from Cancun airport, the hotel is fabulous for a quick getaway if you don't want to spend a lot of time on transfers when you arrive.
It is worth knowing that the hotel is “outside” Cancun and attractions such as the Coco Bongo or the best Cancun beaches are at least a 30 minute drive away.
This makes this hotel perfect for relaxing or if you want to visit Cancun and just enjoy all the luxuries of the resort.

Moon Palace Cancun Beach
Moon Palace Cancun has its own beach, which is quite large. However, the water is not as turquoise as most in the Mexican Caribbean. The good news is that you can visit other hotels in the Palace Resorts Cancun chain.
Transportation is not included, but if you wish to spend the day at any of the following sister resorts, you can enter with your existing wristband and use the services and beach.
Em Playa del Carmen, you can visit the Playacar Palace, located on a fabulous stretch of beach.
If you want to take the ferry to Cozumel, you will have access to Cozumel Palace.
This resort does not have a beach, but there is a lovely dock area where you can swim and snorkel nearby. In Cancun, the Sun Palace and Beach Palace are also available and both have great beaches. S
and want some adults-only time, guests over 18 can also visit the Isla Mujeres Palace.
Food and Drinks at Moon Palace Cancun
I was very impressed with the variety of selection and the quality of the food.
More than 10 restaurants, 24-hour room service (I always feel like this is a treat!).
There is also a café/bar with plenty of desserts and snacks. There are buffet options and à la carte restaurants, most of which do not require reservations.
The drinks are top notch and there are at least 8 bars to choose from, from lobby bars with live music to pool bars with swings where you can enjoy a wide variety of drinks.

Rooms at Moon Palace Cancun
The rooms are great. You can choose a king-size bed or 2 double beds and all have a double jacuzzi.
They all have balconies with different views, minibar with drinks dispenser, coffee maker and 24-hour room service included, so you never have to leave the room, if you want to, of course.
The room is not that big, so families of four may find it a bit cramped.
Moon Palace offers the option of Family Suites, which connect a room with a king-size bed to another with two double beds.
This is a great option for families who want more space or have 3 children.
Internet
Wireless internet access is available throughout the resort, including in guest rooms. A business center is also available in the Sunrise lobby.
Kid´s Club
The on-site kids' club is available for little ones ages 4 to 12. Offering activities ranging from arts and crafts to a mini-cinema, kids won't want to leave.
The Nizuc Playroom is open daily from 10am to 22pm and the Sunrise Playroom is open daily from 8am to 22pm.
If you have teenage children, the Sunrise lobby has a teen lounge, which offers video games, a small movie area, games like air hockey, pool tables and foosball.
It also has a gallery and an ice cream shop and is open daily from 9:00 to 22:00.
Noir Night Club
Guests 18 and older can enjoy the on-site nightclub. Open 4 days a week from 22 PM to 00 AM, you can dance the night away and drinks are included.
Moon Palace Cancun Activities
Flowrider – Surfing Simulator
This impressive attraction allows kids and adults to try their hand at surfing. They also have a bodyboard for those who prefer. Open daily from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm.
Minigolf
They also have an 18-hole mini golf course. It can get pretty hot around noon, so try to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon/evening if you plan on playing.
The mini golf course is located between the Sunrise and Nizuc lobbies and is open daily from 8am to 22pm.
Swimming pools
The pools at Moon Palace are huge and cover most of the property between the ocean and the buildings.
They have a children's pool area, which includes water slides. Activities such as water aerobics and volleyball are offered at various times of the day.
You can easily find food and drinks nearby, but they have waiter service so you never have to leave your beach chair.
Sports areas
Tennis and basketball courts are available at both properties. Bicycles are also available at the mini golf course, so you can explore the property.
Daily activities and evening entertainment
Activities take place in the beach and pool areas. Evening entertainment, including live music and shows, is varied.
Academy
Sunrise and Nizuc have gyms open daily from 6:00 am to 23:00 pm.
Wheelchair accessibility
I can definitely say that Moon Palace is one of the most affordable resorts in Riviera Maya. There are ramps for access to all the hotel services and they have 16 rooms that have been fully adapted.
Accessible toilets are located throughout the resort which makes things easier and the resort is quite large.
Golf cart transportation, available to guests from the lobby to the lobby or golf course/spa area, is not specially adapted.
Resort Credit
Palace Resorts offers credits for bookings of 3 nights or more.
Credits can be used for tours (they have a selection), spa services, golf, and even wedding packages.
All guests are required to pay a 16% tax on the total amount of credit used, but in the long run this amount is much less than what you would pay for services.
Currently, resort credits are allocated in the following amounts:
- 3 nights accommodation USD 500;
- 4 nights accommodation USD 750;
- 5-8 nights stay USD 1500;
- 9-11 nights stay USD 2000;
- 12 nights or more USD 2500.
Awe Spa
With a wide range of incredible services and a hydrotherapy circuit, Awe Spa is a great way to relax and unwind during your getaway.
It's very quiet and the best place to relax by the pool if you want to get away from the main resort pools.
There are also two additional à la carte restaurants: Italian Trattoria and Mayan Cuisine.
Reservations are required (check with the Front Desk), but dining at either restaurant will make it feel like you're leaving the resort. It's worth a visit.
Golf Course Moon Palace Cancun
Moon Palace also boasts the famous 18-hole Moon Palace Golf Course. This course was designed by the famous Jack Nicklaus and is a 72-par, 7.165-yard course. It was built in accordance with USGA and PGA regulations.
The beautiful route includes typical landscapes of the region, including jungles, lakes and dunes. Resort credit can be used to pay green fees.
If you are traveling with a golf group, you can use your resort credit for unlimited golf.
Weddings and Groups

Offering audio, lighting, projection and equipment services, this venue is an excellent option for your corporate event.
The ballrooms can accommodate up to 3600 people and catering is available for cocktails, banquets and more.
As the largest convention center in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, it has been used to host events from the Mexico Showcase & Travel Expo to COP 12 and the Mainstreaming Biodiversity Expo.
